St Mary's Church, Cardington
This pretty country church, mostly dating from the 18th Century but with some sections dating back to Norman times, is within
sight of the great sheds of the Airship Station. It was the parish church of the Royal Airship Works and some of the crew of the R.101 used to worship there. Hugh Banton and I decided that, in the same way that we recorded the organ of Beauvais Cathedral for a section at the end of the airship's fatal flight, we should also incorporate the Cardington church organ for an episode just before the flight begins.
